Welcome to my very first blog post. You may be underwhelmed. Sorry.....
We really are just an average family, exceptionally ordinary.
We lie significantly below the 'average' UK household income, my husband works full time hours and I part-time to allow me to look after our charming 2 year old without paying out for childcare. We have a looong term mortgage, and little disposable income.
We have no dramatic backstory, no exceptional moment of epiphany has led me to blog and I will not be making any extreme or challenging lifestyle changes.
I quite simply want the best we can have from life and it is becoming increasingly clear that along with love, care and humour (which we are blessed to have our fill of) a strong financial position is needed to ensure our happiness, now and in the future.
I want to share this journey with others. Having read a lot of money and budgetting blogs, I have come across some really valuable information, but what I haven't found is a balance. I believe that indulgences are necessary to enjoy the present, as well as working towards a strong financial future. Most of the reading I have done focuses on frugality, rather than finding this balance.
Some of my posts will be focused on money-saving, but others on how to spend money, as efficiently as possible, to make the present special, as well as the future.
